OMEGA+ is a cold-pressed plant based seed oil that is 100% Australian grown, hypoallergenic, low sugar and a plant-based source of essential fatty acids (EFA's). Unlike other animal and plant-based oils OMEGA+ contains a complete omega profile 3,6 & 9. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids must be balanced in order to be effective in the body. Horses eating hay rather than fresh vegetation are consuming 50% less fat than their required intake. We need to ensure that we include the Omega-3, Omega-3 Omega-9 fatty acids in our horses diets as they are not capable of manufacturing it in their bodies. It does not contain FISH or other by products derived from animals... which are totally inappropriate for our horse friends the herbivore.

The high Omega-3 concentrate contains rich anti-inflammatory properties to fight inflammatory responses in the body, namely swelling and pain. Studies have shown that feeding an Omega rich diet can reduce joint inflammation from yearlings and older arthritic horses.

It improves skin and coat shine as well as combating skin irritations. It has excellent anti-microbial properties, so can also be used topically for skin conditions such as eczema, cuts, burns, and bacterial infections.

OMEGA+ is an excellent source of calories for the working or older horse. It is completely cool energy and will not make your horse hot. Studies have shown that Omega-3 fatty acid alleviates oxidative stress, which can lead to cell and tissue damage. Oxidative stress plays a role in the ageing process.

Because OMEGA+ has anti-inflammatory properties, it further supports the immune system by assisting the functioning of immune cells such as white blood cells, known as B cells, which aid with antibody production and pathogen clearance.

The anti-inflammatory properties in OMEGA+ can help horses who are prone to stomach ulcers, gastritis and other inflammatory conditions that effect the intestinal tract.

OMEGA+ is rich in healthy fats and fatty acids omega 3, 6 and 9. Essential fatty acids play a crucial role in hoof health. It is the “cement” that holds hoof cells together, by helping to form a protective seal that keeps the moisture from the environment out of the hoof, and moisture from the internal living structures from escaping. Especially if the horse is not on much pasture, supplementation of high-quality fat such as Omega+, can help maintain hoof quality in the wetter months. OMEGA+ is excellent for horses that have brittle hooves. Your farrier will thank you.

Recent studies have suggested a connection between feeding a high Omega diet to brood mares, have a higher rate of reproduction.  It also increases progesterone levels and this may aid embryo survival.

Additionally, lactating mares that are fed omega-3 fatty acids pass on the fatty acids to their foals in their milk. This helps the foals build a stronger immune system.

Further, it has been shown that feeding a high omega fatty-acid diet to stallions significantly boosts sperm count and also the shape of the sperm. It also raises the concentration of spermatozoa in the semen, which is significant because most semen is frozen prior to conception. The freezing process can significantly denatures or kill sperm.
