Zolvix® Sheep Drench has been available in the Australian sheep drench market for a number of years. At its launch, Zolvix® (Monepantel) was hailed as the arrival of a whole new drench family for the sheep industry, which it is, but like all new drugs, if it is abused or overused, resistance can build up very quickly. To ensure Monepantel remains a long term viable sheep drench for sheep producers, Elanco Animal Health have now launched Zolvix Plus®. Zolvix Plus® is a combination of Monepantel and Abamectin. Two drugs, two different families! This move aligns with current industry thought, that it will be rare that we will ever see new drugs launched as a stand-alone active. History shows us that resistance takes approx. 5 years to start building up, and at the cost of new product development; manufacturers needs a longer period than that to make it worth the investment and the industry needs products that we can rely on for longer as well.
